Abstract

This research wastriggered by social conditions that affect all sectors of community life, including Early Childhood Education. The release of a government policy related to physical distancing has made the Face-to-Face Learning System turn to an Online Learning System, so that the duties and responsibilities of parents has increased, namelybecoming substituteteachers in accompanying their children to study at home. The purpose of this study was to find out the strategies used by parents in taking overteachers’ role at home, and to know the achievements of children's cognitive development in the online learning process at RA PSM Kanigoro Kras Kediri. This study used qualitative methods in revealing facts;by which data sources were teachers, parents and students at RA PSM Kanigoro Kras Kediri. The data were obtained through observations, interviews and documents. Furthermore, data analysis appliedtriangulation techniques that occurred simultaneously, namely data reduction, data display and conclusion drawing/verification. The results showed that the parents of students at RA PSM Kanigoro Kras Kediri used a lecture strategy or gave explanations to the children directly, told stories, accompanied the children playing and let them play alone/independently. This strategywas not able to improve the Children's Cognitive Development in the Online Learning System because the children became lazy to learn; and the parents were notable to differentiate between children's cognitive development achievements at school and at home.
