Abstract

Drama series which is also known as communication media that can be reached by many audiences which are shown on television, which is a mass media. The mass media today displays the reality that has been and is happening in society. An understanding of a program that will be considered in television the writers and producers will learn the situation and cultural conditions of the community itself. The cultural education system in South Korea is so competitive which is causing parents to be ambitious and will do everything they can to help their children entering prestigious universities and succeed by getting good jobs. The drama series SKY Castle has received a lot of attention because of its association with the cultural pattern of parents' parenting in their children's education. This research uses Tzvetan Todorov's narrative structure analysis method, which divides the story line into, the beginning, the middle, and the end. The method of this study is media text analysis that is used to analyze works of fiction or non-fiction. The results of this study indicate that the Korean drama series SKY Castle episode one contains many narrative elements about push parenting carried out by parents to their children in each beginning, middle, and ending storyline.
