Abstract

Bunda Literasi is a literacy mother who has a role, and support, in relation to literacy in the regional environment for which she is responsible. As a role model for developing interest in reading and community creativity / literacy in relation to reading, writing, story telling, and creativity in society related to social inclusion. Various literacy programs that have been launched by the government in various scopes, such as family literacy, school literacy, community literacy, of course, require movement and support in implementing their activities. Literacy workers, who are members of the Literacy Working Group, which consists of a library as a supervisor, literacy mother themselves and volunteers. As a fostering library institution (the public library of Bandung City), it is useful to streamline and make it easier the literacy movement. Another purpose of this study is to determine the extent of the role of the Literacy Mother of Bandung City, in carrying out her role as the literacy mother of Bandung City, and the role of libraries in implementing literacy and supporting the role of literacy mothers in Bandung City to the community for the welfare of the people of Bandung City in particular. The research method used in this research is qualitative method, in which the writer conducts various series of research, such as observation, interview and documentation in the field carefully, then the results of the research are written in descriptive form or description in accordance with the information obtained from the field. The approach used in this research is a psychological approach, where the focus of the research is more focused on the role of the regional head in developing literacy in the area, related to the existence and function of the regional public library. The results of this research are that literacy mother in the Bandung city and library institutions in the Bandung city area have been well developed and have been able to increase awareness of the importance of reading interest or penchant for reading in the community, besides being able to develop educational and creative activities, this role is also have been able to pick up the ball from the community, so that they are able to understand the importance of reading for improving the welfare of life, through various activities that literacy mother and the Bandung City Library have done in the field. The conclusion of this research is a literacy mother of Bandung as literacy mother of Bandung City and their staff, namely PKK mothers, and the community in general has brought literacy as a necessity in increasing life expectancy related to education and reading fondness, creativity and other activities.
