Abstract

This study aims to determine how the sustainability of a village library, namely Pustaka Desa Wukirsari Imogiri Bantul, by analyzing the faktors that affect the sustainability of the library. The type of this research is descriptive-qualitative with a phenomenological approach, namely by capturing various problems that exist in society and revealing the meaning contained in them. Determination of informants was carried out by using purposive sampling technique where the researcher provided several criteria that were appropriate for the study so that 6 informants were found. The method used to collect data in this study is observation, interviews, and documentation. While the data analysis used was data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. Researchers analyzed the sustainability faktors of the Wukirsari Village Library using SWOT analysis. The results of the research with SWOT analysis show that Pustaka Desa Wukirsari has strength in the aspects of a large collection (exceeds the standard), adequate infrastructure, strategic and comfortable location, supportive urban desa environment, has succeeded in establishing partnerships with several agencies. Whereas the weaknesses are that the interests of each member are different so that the contribution is sometimes less than optimal, administrative management is still classified as manual, procurement of collections only comes from grants, the decrease in the number of visitors is quite drastic due to the Covid-19 pandemi. There are threats faced by Pustaka Desa Wukirsari, namely people who are still reluctant to come to the library, high levels of community activity (the effect of livelihoods and changes to school curricula that require full day children at school), people's reading interest is still low, and the Covid-19 pandemi. Among the weaknesses and threats faced by Pustaka Desa Wukirsari, there are still opportunities that can be used as a hope for the sustainability of the library, namely the support and attention of the Government in the form of policies in the library sector. This is evidenced by the existence of a clear decree regarding library management issued by the Village Government. From the results of the analysis carried out, it was found several problems / constraints so that the researchers provided several alternatif solutions that could be applied in the Pustaka Desa Wukirsari.
