Abstract

Polygamy, both in discourse and practice, has always been an interesting and productive controversy because it is a socio-religious phenomenon that accurs in the life of the Indosian Muslim Community. Today the phenomenom of polygamy is a central issue in the life of urban Muslim communities, where many institutions act as agents or sevices for syar’i polygamy by opening polygamy education programs, polygamy consultations and polygamy techniques targeting urban Muslim communities in a number of places in Indonesia and none other than cities Yogyakarta. As far as the researcher observes that in Yogyakarta City there is one institution as an agent or sevice for syar’i polygamy, namely Pondok Daurah Taman Surga Yogyakarta, which is located at Candi Winangun Village, Ngaglik District, Sleman Regency, Yogyakarta Special Region, this is the reason for researchers to research more deeply about the first basic reasons. These institutions promote syar’i polygamy, secondly how polygamy is taught and disseminated in these institutions, third is how the public responds to the practice of polygamy in these institutions. The research method in this research is qualitative, while the type of research is field research with a sosiological approach. The data analysis method used is descriptive analytic. In the data collection method, the researcher uses the method of observation, interview, documentation and triangulation. The results showed that the basic reason that the emergence of the syar’i polygamy program in pondok daurah taman surga yogyakarta was, first, because many people consulted Ustad Awan Abdullah. second, the are many people who oppose the existence of syari’at and the practice of polygamy in the community, including the Indonesian solidarity party and feminists. Third, as a form of spreading the idelogy Islamism which is covered with the doctrine that polygamy is a syar’iyah wisdom. In the mechanism of disseminating syar’i polygamy practices through tausiah or lectures he hears both offline, online and on air. The public response with the Pondok Daurah Taman Surga Yogyakarta is very beneficial for married couples who experience internal family problems, basides that it is very useful for married couples who want to do polygamy.
