Abstract

This research is motivated by the existence of MAN Insan Cendekia in North Maluku which was built in 2017. The current head of the madrasah is the first madrasa principal to develop a madrasah vision so that in 2018 MAN Insan Cendekia Hamahera Barat obtained madrasah accreditation (A) with a score of 92 and visionary headmaster leadership which aims to make MAN Insan Cendekia as the first superior madrasa in North Maluku in 2022, this study aims to describe the visionary leadership of Insan Cendekia madrasah principal which refers to the implementation of the vision, supporting and inhibiting factors, and describes the strategy of the madrasa principal in embody quality. This type of research is descriptive qualitative, with a phenomenological approach that occurs in the field. The author's data collection uses three methods, namely: 1) observation, 2) interviews, 3) documentation. The data obtained was also tested for credibility using source triangulation and method triangulation so that the data presented was truly credible. The results obtained in this study are as follows: First, the implementation of visionary leadership of the head of madrasah in realizing quality in MAN Insan Cendekia Halmahera Barat is described through indicators in the form of concepts, programs, implementation strategies and evaluation of the quality of education. Second, the full support of the central government and local governments for the development of madrasah is a supporting factor in realizing quality. While the inhibiting factor is the presence of educators and education staff who are not in accordance with the competence of their fields and teachers, especially in science subjects such as mathematics, physics, biology, chemistry, who have not mastered English in the learning process in class Third, the strategy for implementing the vision to realize quality is divided into three parts, namely, providing educational support facilities, increasing teacher competence and developing student potential in the field of science and technology and IMTAQ as the flagship program of madrasah.
