Financial deepening is a ratio measurement between total assets (financial asessts) expressed in currency and national income. Financial deepening is measured by the ratio between money supply (M2) and gross domestic product (PDB). This study was aimed at analyzing the factors influencing financial deepening in Malaysia and Indonesia. The variables used in this study were return on assets (ROA). Financing to deposit ratio (FDR), foreign exchange reverses and exchange rates for financial deepening in Malaysia and Indonesia. The analytical method used in this study was Vector Error Corretion Model (VECM) with the aim of selecting the islamic banking and macroeconomic variable which is able to measure the state deepening finance. Granger causality test showed that variable return of assets (ROA) financing to deposit (FDR), foreign exchange reserves and exchange rates had a positive and significant effect in financial deepening in Malaysia and Indonesia. It can be concluded that the result of VECM anlaysis, for both long and short term, were not all the variables had a positive and significant effect on financial deepening in Malaysia and indonesia.
