Abstract

Currently, Indonesia has entered an era of disruption. Critical thinking skills are the main skills that must be possessed. Cultivating a critical thinker spirit is easy, it takes time so that it is internalized in a person. Therefore, stimulation of critical thinking skills is best done from an early age. However, the stimulation of critical thinking skills has not yet been carried out in all schools, the Covid-19 pandemic outbreak has arrived so that various regions are implementing home studies. This makes the situation even more difficult because educators cannot assist children directly, but stimulation of critical thinking skills in children still has to run even though the stimulation is done by parents at home. This research is qualitative research with the data source of the principal, homeroom teacher of Kindergarten B. The data was collected using interviews, observation, and documentation. The technique of testing the validity of the data used technical triangulation. The main purpose of this research is to examine whether cognitive activity can stimulate critical skills during learning from home, how to form activities to stimulate critical thinking skills during learning from home, and see how enthusiastic parents are in stimulating critical thinking during learning from home. The results of this study indicate that: (1) Cognitive activity can stimulate critical thinking skills through a scientific approach. (2) The form of stimulation of critical thinking skills during the learning period from home can be done through a scientific approach. During a pandemic, learning through a scientific approach can still be done with a blended learning system and digital learning through the zoom meeting and WhatsApp platforms. (3) Parents' enthusiasm in supporting, motivating children, and stimulating critical thinking while learning from home is very high, this is evidenced by the increased learning outcomes of children when learning from home.
