Abstract

Karangpatihan is a village in the Ponorogo area which has an acute poverty problem which causes the phenomenon of the mentally retarded community.Pak Eko Mulyadi, as the village head, is assisted by volunteers to carry out social work and community development roles for the welfare of his community independently. Now the results of his struggle are starting to be felt with the formation of an empowerment system that can be enjoyed by the poor and mentally retarded through agriculture, farming and industry. This research uses descriptive qualitative research methods. The role of social work is carried out by Pak Eko Mulyadi as a broker, as an advocate, as a counselor, as an educator, as a staff developer, and as an administrator. Also conducts community development by providing awareness to the other Karangpatihan community to participate in poverty alleviation for the progress of their village. Although there are changes that have occurred in Karangpatihan, empowerment still needs to be improved to achieve immediate prosperitythere.
