Abstract

The Covid 19 pandemic or SARS-COV2 is a new type of SARS outbreak that has hit the entire world, including Indonesia. Covid 19 was first discovered in Wuhan China in December 2019. This virus attacks the respiratory tract and is highly contagious. The World Health Organization (WHO) declared Covid 19 a public health emergency that is troubling the world (KKMMD). Anticipation in tackling the spread of Covid 19 is not only carried out by the government, all elements must be involved, including the community and institutions. One of the contributing institutions is Nahdatul Ulama, Curup city, Rejang Lebong Regency, Bengkulu province. Nahdatul Ulama risk communication as a communication strategy in tackling the spread of Covid 19 in the city of Curup. In this study, the authors used a type of qualitative research that emphasizes depth in terms of data quality, not quantity, so the authors go down directly to research the field to obtain accurate and comprehensive data related to religious communication. Determination of the subject using Snawball sampling and data collection techniques using interview techniques, observation and documentation. The results of this study are first, the Nahdatul Ulama risk communication is designed in an effort to minimize the risk impact of a pandemic. The purpose of Nahdatul Ulama risk communication is to increase public awareness, adhere to health protocols, build relationships (trust, cooperation), and eliminate anxiety from the risk of Covid 19. To build this, Nahdatul Ulama has a strategy of building the art of speaking, delivering real information. just assumptions, and direct a spiritual attitude towards society. Second, Nahdatul Ulama's risk communication management consists of activity design, grouping of work teams, realization of planned activities, and evaluation of activities to measure the success or failure of activities that have been carried out. Nahdatul Ulama's activities in tackling the spread of Covid 19 include persuasive communication, fundraising, activities through the media, the formation of a Covid 19 task force, and implementation of health protocols. Third, community response which describes the form of actions and changes in people's behavior in the midst of a pandemic as a measure of the success of Nahdatul Ulama communication that has been implemented. This response is in the form of obeying the rules, appeals and recommendations in several sub-districts of Curup city where there is success in communication, but there are still people who have not obeyed, are indifferent and the traditions and culture at social events become obstacles in themselves.
