Abstract
Economic growth is very important and is an illustration of the success of development in a country. The financial sector is believed to have an important role in increasing economic growth. The growth of the financial sector, especially Islamic finance in Indonesia, has experienced significant growth. The Indonesian government views the financial sector as an important instrument of driving economic growth, however, it appears that the percentage of economic growth in Indonesia has decreased over the past decade. This study aims to determine the role of the development of Islamic financial instruments such as zakat, Islamic bank financing, Islamic stocks, mutual funds, corporate sukuk, government sukuk in encouraging economic growth in Indonesia during the 2011-2020 period. This study uses a quantitative method with the analysis tool Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) model. The results of this study indicate that in the short term all Islamic financial instrument variables have a negative effect on economic growth. Whereas in the long term all independent variables have a positive effect on economic growth except for Islamic mutual funds which show a negative effect and Islamic bank financing and Islamic stocks have no effect on economic growth in Indonesia. Thus it can be concluded that sharia financial instruments have an important role in encouraging economic growth in Indonesia.
