Abstract

The development of increasingly sophisticated technology is an important means to achieve a more effective and efficient education. However, it becomes a big demand for educators to develop skills in mastering technology and learning media. In this case, the role of learning media in the teaching and learning process is important to be implemented by educators, because learning media is a tool to channel the content of the material and can develop the potential and creativity of learners in the learning process. Based on this, then came the idea of researchers about learning media in the form of digital media, namely by developing a media application dolanan. This study aimed at the following points. 1) To know the development process of children’s rhyme application on Javanese Language subject for 3rd grade students of Ma’arif Darussalam Elementary School of Plaosan; 2) To know the application’s validity; 3) To know the responses from education practitioners and students to the application. This Research and Development (R&D) study adopted the first seven steps of Borg and Gall model, namely: (1) potencies and obstacles, (2) data collecting, (3) product design, (4) design validity, (5) design revision, (6) product trials, and (7) product revision. The results showed that the application’s score given by material, language, and media experts were 98.33%, 98.18%, and 92.72% respectively. The score implied its “very feasible” category. The application also received a “very feasible” category (90%) from the education practitioners. The students’ responses to the application showed an “excellent” category with the average scores were 94% from small classes and 95% from bigger classes. It is reliable to say that the product developed by the researcher is very decent media to use in elementary schools. The media fits the children’s rhyme topic under Javanese Language subject. The existence of this product is assumed to make the learning process more interesting, educational and innovative.
