Abstract
Long-Distance Marriage is a condition where a married couple lives in a marital relationship without physically residing in the same location for a certain period of time. This situation usually occurs due to work, education, or family responsibilities that require one or both partners to be in different places. Existing research shows that long-distance marriage has the potential to disrupt family roles and functions, thus being used as a reason for filing for divorce, such as in the Pacitan Religious Court. This study answers the questions from the formulation of the problem taken, namely the ability of long-distance marriage families to survive, strategies and efforts made to achieve household harmony in Surabaya Village, Sakra Timur District, East Lombok Regency, West Nusa Tenggara Province. This research employed a sociological approach, conducting direct observations and interviews in the field. Observations were conducted to identify families in long-distance marriages and to examine interactions between family members and their environment. Interviews were conducted with the subjects, in this case wives in long-distance marriages with five-year marriages. The theory used to analyze the data was Froma Walsh's theory of family resilience. The research results show that the reasons for the survival of long-distance marriage families are due to the strong belief and trust within the family (belief system) in a better life after experiencing a long-distance marriage. This is also supported by organized resources (organizational resources), and the communication process (communication process) in the long-distance marriage family. So that the formed family can survive, these three components are interconnected to create family resilience. In addition, efforts made to realize household harmony include fulfilling partner responsibilities both physically and financially. Furthermore, the presence of family and environmental support encourages the realization of harmony and harmony in the household. Furthermore, efforts are made to resolve conflicts wisely by adopting an open attitude such as giving in to each other, especially in managing emotions.
