Abstract

Unemployment is still a problem for developing countries that cannot be ignored because it can have an impact on economic and social welfare. This study aims to determine how the influence of macroeconomic variable factors, namely Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP), Regency/City Minimum Wage (UMK), population, and Domestic Investment (PMDN) on the open unemployment rate. This study used 35 district/city samples. Sample selection was done by purposive sampling. This study used an annual period of eight years during 2017-2024 with 280 observations. The analysis used was panel data regression with the best method obtained being the Fixed Effect Model (FEM) using the First Difference method data transformation. The findings stated that Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) had a negative and significant effect on the open unemployment rate. Meanwhile, UMK had a positive and significant effect on the open unemployment rate. Other variables such as population and PMDN investment both do not affect on the open unemployment rate.
