Abstract

This study is motivated by the rapid influence of the times, namely the progress of science and technology, which is so fast and causes various kinds of impacts on the nation's generation. This phenomenon shows that there is a need for balance between the piety values and the science values in the education world. This is a form of filter to stem the negative impacts of advances in science and technology. Thus, there is a need for integration between faith and piety (IMTAQ) and science and technology (Iptek) as a new model in the development of the Islamic education curriculum. This study was conducted at Madrasah Mu'allimin Mu'allimat Islamic Boarding School Ihyaul Ulum as a school that applied the concept of an integrative curriculum between religious and science. This study aimed at determining the integrated curriculum design based on faith and piety (IMTAQ) and science and technology, curriculum integration model, and the implementation of the existing faith and piety (IMTAQ) and science and technology (Iptek) based on the integrative curriculum in this school. The type of study was field research, using a descriptive qualitative model approach as an analysis of field findings, and data collection techniques used interviews, observation, and documentation. The data analysis techniques included data collection, data reduction, data presentation and verification. The data validity test included source triangulation and technique triangulation. The results of this study indicated that the curriculum integrated design applied in this school was a combination of the boarding school curriculum and the national curriculum. This school had the aim of synergizing the science-based curriculum in the national curriculum with the religious science-based curriculum in the boarding school curriculum so that a combination of natural science and Al-Quran tafsir was formulated using the qauniyah verse. This school curriculum integration model employed Shared Interconnected Entities Model. This model focused on the content of lessons interrelated in one concept and across different disciplines, namely science material and Al-Qur'an exegesis. The implementation of the integrated curriculum at MMI included; Planning: compiling a curriculum program and the concept of the relationship between the theme of science and verse qauniyah. Implementation: the learning process between science subjects and Al-Qur'an tafsir. Evaluation: there was daily assessment, midterm assessment and end semester assessment. The form of integration at this stage can be seen that the assessment instrument used the integration of the science material with the related verses of the Al-Quran tafsir.
