Abstract

More than 30 years of development of Islamic banking is very significant, the impact of financial globalization (global finance) and the free market (laiseez-faire) has an impact on the prudence of Islamic financial industry and business players to maintain aspects of sharia compliance (sharia compliance) as a means of preventing possible risks and fraud in the real sector. Of course this will have implications for the financial product innovation offered by Islamic banking. This is important because if Islamic banks cannot maintain Islamic values in global business and competition, it means that Islamic values are incompatible and irrelevant with the times. This study uses BUS in Indonesia and Malaysia as a sample because these two countries are countries with a majority population of MuslMSI. This study uses quantitative research, with the research object of 10 samples of Islamic banking in Indonesia and 10 samples of Islamic banking in Malaysia which have been operating during 2015-2019. The data source of this research uses the annual reports of each bank. The results of this study concluded that there were differences in the level of compliance based on values Maqaṣhid Syariah Index (MSI) between Indonesian and Malaysian Islamic banking in 2015-2019.
