Abstract

This study aims to determine the implementation of cultural literacy at TBM Wijaya Kusuma as an effort to preserve the culture of Yogyakarta. As for this type of research using qualitative methods. The technique of determining the informants used purposive and taken 6 informants. The data collection methods in this study are observation, interviews and documentation. Data analysis uses data reduction, data presentation and conclusions. The results of the study indicate that TBM Wijaya Kusuma does not only carry out one of the goals of TBM which is to become an educational medium through reading materials with various disciplines. However, TBM Wijaya Kusuma also carries out another goal of TBM, which is to become a medium of cultural transfer through cultural literacy. Cultural literacy is an effort of TBM Wijaya Kusuma in preserving Yogyakarta culture. Cultural literacy in it consists of a karawitan class, a classical Yogyakarta style dance class and a Javanese script training class. The three classes were held at the Wijaya Kusuma Cultural Arts Studio. Since its inception until now, the implementation of cultural literacy, which consists of 3 classes, for both adults and children has gone well and smoothly. The participants have a great interest in the culture or culture of Yogyakarta. So that participants take part in cultural literacy enthusiastically, especially the adult group. This was proven until after the Covid-19 pandemic.
