Abstract

The purpose of this study was to find the effect of the five dimensions of entrepreneurial orientation (i.e., risk-taking, innovativeness, proactiveness, competitive aggressiveness, and autonomy) on the MSMEs performance, as well as the moderating effect of socioemotional wealth (SEW) and self-efficacy on the relationship between the five dimensions of entrepreneurial orientation (EO) and MSMEs performance. The object of this research is MSMEs in the Special Region of Yogyakarta using 416 questionnaire instruments and 5 interview instruments. The results showed that of the five dimensions of EO, only competitive aggressiveness had a positive effect on the MSMEs performance. As a moderating variable, SEW only moderates the relationship between proactiveness and MSMEs performance positively. Meanwhile, self-efficacy can moderate the relationship between proactiveness, competitive aggressiveness, autonomy and MSMEs performance. Self-efficacy moderates competitive aggressiveness and autonomy positively, and proactiveness negatively.
