Abstract

Factor analysis is a multivariate analysis with interdependence method. Factor analysis is used to reduce the data and interpret it as a newly formed variable. Another purpose of factor analysis is to determine the dominant factors in explaining a problem. Confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) is one approach in factor analysis that is used to determine the latent variables underlying the original variables. Discriminant analysis is a multivariate analysis with the dependency method. Discriminant analysis aims to determine group differences and predict the probability that an object of research will enter a certain group based on several independent variables whose data are interval or ratio (quantitative) scales. Multiple discriminant analysis (MDA) is one of the techniques in discriminant analysis in which the dependent variable Y is grouped into more than two groups and a discriminant function is required (G-1) if there are as many as G categories. This study aims to apply factor analysis with confirmatory factor analysis and discriminant analysis with multiple discriminant analysis in the analysis of factors that affect the level of public concern about the Covid-19 pandemic condition. The results showed that there were four factors that were confirmed to affect the level of public concern about the Covid-19 pandemic, namely personal health and family health factors, economic factors, media coverage factors, and social life factors. From the results of the application of factor analysis, it was found that the most dominant factors were personal health factors and family health economic factors. From the results of the application of discriminant analysis, there are clear or significant differences between categories or groups of people who are very worried, worried, quite worried and not worried about the Covid-19 pandemic condition with the most powerful factors influencing the differences are personal health and family health factors and factors economy.
