Abstract

Adolescence can be said to be a problematic age and filled with emotional turmoil, so that subjective well-being has an important role in overcoming these problems. This study aims to determine the relationship between gratitude and emotional regulation with subjective well-being of adolescents in Yogyakarta. The subjects in this study were 398 adolescents in Yogyakarta obtained by accidental sampling technique. The measuring instrument of this research is the subjective well-being scale, the gratitude scale and the emotion regulation scale. Multiple linear regression technique was used in this study to analyze the data. The results of this study indicate that there is a positive relationship between gratitude and emotional regulation simultaneously with subjective well-being. This is indicated by the positive regression coefficient values of 0.769 and 0.116 with a significance level of 0.000 (p <0.05), so the hypothesis is accepted. The higher the gratitude and emotional regulation, the higher the subjective wellbeing. The effective contribution given by gratitude and emotion regulation simultaneously to subjective well-being is 73,7%. The results of the minor hypothesis test on the variable of gratitude have a positive regression coefficient of 0.838 with a significance level of 0.000 (p <0.05), so that gratitude has a positive effect on subjective well-being. The effective contribution given by gratitude to subjective well-being is 73,4%. While the emotional regulation variable has a positive regression coefficient of 0.820 with a significance level of 0.000 (p <0.05), so that emotional regulation has a positive effect on subjective wellbeing. The effective contribution given by emotion regulation to subjective well-being is 46,3%
