Abstract

Children who are experienced with abuse will grow up to be people who experience a lot of mental problems. However, they were able to keep moving forward due to various factors, one of which was gratitude. This research aims to determine the gratitude in early adult who experienced child abuse. The informants in this research is amounted to 2 woman and 1 man. This research method uses qualitative method with a phenomenological approach. Data collection methods used were semi-structured interviews. The techniques analysis using the process of data reduction, data coding, data categorization, data presentation, and conclusions. The results showed that the representation of gratitude in early adults who have experienced child abuse was being grateful that still have parents, given pleasure (health, sustenance, family, friends), being grateful for small and all the things that you have and haven‟t. in addition, the informants are grateful by taking the positive side of the experienced of child abuse, so the have tendencies to deed good and thank God. The influencing factors consist of warm sense of appreciation, positive perceptions in life, good intentions toward other people or things, tendencies to act positively, have a broad view in life, personality factor, and environmental factors. In addition, there is factor that inhibit gratitude was emotion.
