Abstract

Intervention is an active involvement of social workers in handling problems between groups in an incident, both in planning group activities and individual conflicts. This study aims to determine how the intervention process in fostering perpetrators of sexual violence against children in the Class IIA prison in Yogyakarta. This study was structured using qualitative methods. Data was collected by means of observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of this study indicate that the intervention process carried out by BIMASWAT Guardians in fostering perpetrators of sexual violence against children consists of 3 stages, namely the stage of maximum security, medium security, and minimum security. In the intervention process carried out in the field, there were several supporting and inhibiting factors faced by BIMASWAT Guardians. The supporting factors are the high motivation of prisoners to change, the support from the family, and the relationship with 3rd parties. While the inhibiting factors are the motivation of inmates to change is minimal/none, the absence of support from the family, government policies related to the relationship between prisons and families and policies related to limiting the time of the criminal period, changing the status of prisons, and the lack of training and training for instructors.
