Abstract

Education that is able to develop skills is a quality education, forming the Character and Civilization of the Nation. Therefore, it must be developed in education in schools aspects of faith, laughter, noble morals, health, science, proficiency, creativity, independence, democracy and responsibility to students and all educational stakeholders. The current condition of most schools only develops aspects of education superficially. Cognitive dimension (memorization only), skill dimension (mechanistic), value dimension is not taken care of and not deep, relationship dimension (interactive domain) is not worked. Whereas quality schools should be able to develop cognitive dimensions (mastering knowledge according to their talents, interests). Competition is a natural part of education. The purpose of the competition is to get as many students as possible as an educational object. As a result, only the most persistent and powerful education leaders are usually able to face stiff competition or crises that arise during school or university. So it takes strategic management to be able to balance academic values and Islamic values that are good and balanced. SMP Muhammadiyah 3 Yogyakarta is one of many schools that implement strategic management aimed at its students. In this study, it is intended to describe strategic management in an effort to improve the values of religiosity of students at SMP Muhammadiyah 3 Yogyakarta. There are methods of data collection using interviews, observations and documentation methods. Then the data validity technique uses data source triangulation. The results stated that the strategic management in SMP Muhammadiyah 3 Yogyakarta is to formulate a strategy between developing the vision of the business mission, identifying opportunities and threats from the external, establishing weaknesses and strengths of the internal company, setting long-term goals and weighing other alternatives. The process or model of the creation of religious atmosphere in SMP Muhammadiyah 3 Yogyakarta is with structural models, mechanical models, formal models and organic models
