Abstract

Calligraphy is one of the Islamic arts and part of the historical product of Islamic culture so that SKI values are also found in the art of calligraphy. SASKAL Alhasyimi Palu is an institution that do preservation of this Islamic art. It is necessary to study the values of SKI in the art of calligraphy and their influence toward students attitude. The purpose of this study is to find out the reasons for SASKAL Alhasyimi to continue to preserve the art of calligraphy, the efforts made in preserving the art of calligraphy, the SKI values contained in calligraphy art activities, and the implications of preserving SKI values on changes in the attitudes and behavior of calligraphy activists at SASKAL Alhasyimi Palu. The research used a descriptive qualitative research method that emphasizes the use of field data (natural). The results of the study were carried out based on pedagogical reviews, with data collection techniques using participatory observation methods, unstructured interviews, and documentation. The research subjects were the general leadership of SASKAL Alhasyimi Palu and teachers at SASKAL Alhasyimi and were taken through purposive sampling technique. The data sources are intensive course participants, short course students and boarding students at SASKAL Alhasyimi that were taken through the snowball sampling technique. The technique of data analysis carried out by reducing the data and then presented it in the form of a short description, and verified and validated through data triangulation. The results showed that: 1) The art of calligraphy is an art that continues to be preserved in SASKAL Alhasyimi because it is part of Islamic art, part of the history of Islamic culture, part of science and knowledge of the Qur'an, part of skill and part of da'wah. 2) Efforts to preserve the art of calligraphy at SASKAL Alhasyimi are done by promoting SASKAL through Alhasyimi cadres, various activities, motivation and reward programs, continue to contribute achievements. 3) There are 19 SKI values in art of calligraphy at SASKAL Alhasyimi, namely religious, patience, exemplary, low profile, accuracy, honesty, tolerance, discipline, hard work, creative, independent, democratic, curiosity, respect achievement, friendly/communicative, peace-loving, fond of reading, social care, and responsibility. 4) The implications of SKI values toward attitudes of calligraphy activists at SASKAL Alhasyimi are determined.
