Abstract

A girl begins to enter puberty (starting at the age of 10-14 years), then the metabolism in her body will experience changes. At the beginning of puberty, hormone levels of LH (Lutenizing Hormone) and FSH (Follicle Stimulating Hormone) will increase and stimulate sex hormones. Increased hormone levels cause the maturation of the breasts, ovaries, uterus, vagina, and menstrual discharge. This study aims to examine the experience of children in preparing for menstruation and how parents and teachers prepare elementary school students at MI Muhammadiyah Beji, The step taken is to use qualitative data. This study uses qualitative methods, with data collection techniques in depth interviews. There were six participants who were registered as students in the MI Muhammadiyah Beji, Tulung, Klaten who have experienced menstruation. The sample selection technique was purposive sampling and used tape recording media to document interview data. The results of data analysis showed that in general the six participants did not feel the negative impact of menstruation on their emotions. Children's readiness is classified as less because of the lack of information support. Changes that occur in behavior and emotions are also not significant because they have had good habits since childhood such as worship and neatness of dress. The role of parents and teachers is considered lacking, and poor sanitation makes students less comfortable undergoing menstruation.
