Abstract

Globalization requires humans to follow the flow of life more broadly and openly, not least within the scope of the organization. In this era of change, leaders are very important in guiding the improvement of achievement and development of a government institution. The purpose of this study was to determine the profile of the Office of the Ministry of Religion of Sleman Regency, employee performance indicators, describe strategies, and analyze strategies in improving performance. Strategic management can be used as a way or tactic for leaders to manage, organize and direct the goals that have been set. Strategic Management Theory includes the environmental scanning stage, the strategy formulation stage, the strategy implementation stage and the strategy evaluation stage. The method used in this study is a descriptive method with a qualitative approach for the location at the Office of the Ministry of Religion, Sleman Regency. The techniques used in data collection are observation, interviews and documentation. Data analysis was carried out by data reduction and data presentation. The validity of the data was tested by observation, persistence, and triangulation. The results of this study indicate that: 1) Employee performance with employee performance target indicators (SKP) includes service, integrity, commitment, discipline and leadership. 2) The strategy of the head of the ministry has strategic steps, namely making disciplinary rules, making job descriptions, generating employee motivation, making daily reports, rewards and communication patterns. 3) The results of the analysis use strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats by optimizing education and training activities at the Ministry of Religion of Sleman Regency so that existing employees have greater opportunities to improve their knowledge and skills.
