Abstract

Adolescence is a period when individuals begin to want to explore the outside world, high curiosity, to the search for individual identity. Teenagers begin to get to know various friends from various regions, ethnicities, religions in school and their playing environment. But teenagers also still need the assistance of their parents or other people in the search for their identity. One thing that needs to be instilled in teenagers is the character of tolerance. The character of tolerance needs to be instilled in adolescents because it can be a limitation or can fortify themselves in the search for self-identity. This study aims to determine the relationship between adolescent attachment to parents and the character of tolerance in high school adolescents. The hypothesis in this study is that there is a relationship between adolescent attachment to parents and the character of tolerance in high school adolescents. The subjects of this research were 210 students of SMA N 9 Yogyakarta. The data collection tools used in this study were the tolerance character scale and the adolescent attachment scale with their parents. The data collection technique used cluster random sampling technique. The data analysis technique used in this study is the non-parametrictest Spearman Rho with the help of the SPSSapplication. for windows version 25The statistical results show the correlation value (rxy) = 0.369 and the p value = 0.000 (p < 0.05), meaning that the hypothesis is accepted. . Thus, in this study, it was proven that there was a significant positive relationship between the variable of tolerance character and the variable of adolescent attachment to parents
