Abstract

This study aims to determine the policies, activities and constraints of collection preservation activities at the Dinas Perpustakaan dan Kearsipan Kabupaten Magelang. The method used is descriptive qualitative by taking six informants including four librarians and two supporting staff of Dinas Perpustakaan dan Kearsipan Kabupaten Magelang. Data collection techniques using observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis uses data reduction, data presentation, and conclusions. The results showed that the collection preservation policy at the Dinas Perpustakaan dan Kearsipan Kabupaten Magelang was based on a Decree and Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) that had been made from the library sector. Preservation policies carried out at the Dinas Perpustakaan dan Kearsipan Kabupaten Magelang Service are formulated normatively based on conditions during the library run, usually starting with stock taking or enumeration activities. After the stock taking will be done, you will know the latest number of how many books are damaged. Preservation activities carried out at the Dinas Perpustakaan dan Kearsipan Kabupaten Magelang Service carried out preventive actions such as daily room cleaning, giving camphor once a month, installing window films, cleaning dust with a vacuum cleaner and educating users to treat library materials properly. curative, such as preserving library materials, drilling books, sewing, glue. And restoration is like repairing a broken cover. The obstacles faced by the Office of the Dinas Perpustakaan dan Kearsipan Kabupaten Magelang are that officers are not focused on taking care of library materials, inadequate facilities, lack of funds for preservation activities, and missing sheets.
