Abstract

This study aims to describe and analyze the role of librarians in child services at the PEVITA Library and to determine the role of librarians in motivating children's learning through child services at the PEVITA library in Kota Yogyakarta. This research is a qualitative descriptive study. The subject of this research is the librarian of the Kota Yogyakarta PEVITA Library. The object of this research is the role of librarians in motivating children's learning in the PEVITA children's service, Kota Yogyakarta. Data collection in this study used the methods of observation, interviews, and documentation. Test the validity of the data using the credibility test, including triangulation and membercheck and dependability tests. Data analysis techniques in this study are data reduction, data presentation, and verification/drawing conclusions. The results of this study are 1) The role of the librarian in child services in the PEVITA library is in accordance with the role of EMAS (Educator, Manajer, Administrator, dan Supervisor). However, the role of the librarian supervisor has not been maximized in coordinating with fellow technical librarians. This supervisor role affects the course of other roles such as the role of educator which is seen in the implementation of programs in children's services that have not been running well and consistently. Of the four roles, the librarian's role in motivating children's learning is evident in the role of educators, and 2) the librarian's efforts to motivate children's learning are by accompanying children's library learning activities in children's services. interesting and rewarding. The learning motivation given by the librarian can improve the learning outcomes of children's readers, especially in reading guidance, increase interest in visiting children's readers, and provide satisfaction to parents of child readers. However, the lack of a supervisory role related to coordination with fellow librarians has caused programs or activities that have been prepared for children's services that have not been implemented consistently. In this case, the librarian also acts as a motivator.
