Abstract

This study aims to provide an overview (1) to describe the leadership role of school principals in improving the performance of PAI teachers during the covid pandemic, (2) to determine the performance of PAI teachers during the covid pandemic, (3) to analyze the principal's strategies in improving PAI teacher performance during the covid pandemic. This research is a form of field research (field research) which is descriptive qualitative, using several approaches, namely, inductive approach analysis, subjective tendencies, and managerial. The author also uses several instruments to obtain data, including observation guidelines, documentation, and interviews. The types of data needed in this study are primary data and secondary data. While the data collection techniques used were observation, interviews, and documentation referring to deductive and inductive analysis using several methods relevant to the main variables to be studied, while informants as resource persons were school principals, and PAI teachers. The results that the researchers got, (1) the role of the principal in improving the performance of PAI teachers during the pandemic, usually always provide direction and advice and control through online media such as zoom, whatsup group, and google meet. Activities like this are routinely carried out by school principals to teachers in order to maintain teacher professionalism. (2) PAI teacher performance during the pandemic, from PAI teachers usually providing advice and assignments via online such as zoom, whatsup group, and google meet. In order to keep online teaching and learning activities effective. (3) the principal's strategy in improving the performance of PAI teachers during the pandemic, in addition to providing direction and advice and controlling through online media such as zoom, whatsup group, and google meet. Usually the principal makes himself an example in maintaining professionalism, after that the principal gives rewards to teachers who are considered capable of maintaining their professionalism during the pandemic. And provide panism to teachers who are less disciplined. The solution is that the principal and PAI teachers must be active in developing their respective performances by supporting and supporting each other. In addition, it is necessary to have trainings and seminars held by the school in order to maintain the existence of teachers in improving their professionalism as teachers.
