Abstract

Educators are figures to be followed and nurtured, because everything they did would surely be imitated by their students. Thus, educators have to have a good personal competence, in order to foster students behavior. Many educators want their students to behave well, eventhough educators themselves lack of good personal competencies. The purposes of this study are, first, to know the personal competence of PAI educators at SMP Negeri 1 Tanah Jambo Aye. Second, to know the efforts to develop the personal competence of PAI educators at SMP Negeri 1 Tanah Jambo Aye in fostering student behavior. Third, to find the problems faced in fostering the personal competence of PAI educators at SMP Negeri 1 Tanah Jambo Aye in fostering student behavior. Fourth, to know the personal competence of PAI educators on the implications of fostering student behavior. This research is based on a theory about the personal competencies and behavior of students. This type of research is a qualitative research with a descriptive method. Sources of data for this study were school principal, vice principal and PAI educators. Data collection methods used are observation, interview, and documentation. The wetness of the research data was carried out through a triangulation test. Data processing and analysis techniques are carried out through three stages, which are: data reduction, data presentation, data verification, and conclusionThis study found that the personal competence of PAI teachers at SMP Negeri 1 Tanah Jambo Aye was good in fostering the behavior of students. Teachers have a high sense of responsibility and authority in carrying out their duties. Efforts to develop teacher personality competencies are carried out by participating in various training programs, both held in the school environment and outside the school. Another effort is to actively evaluate fellow PAI teachers regarding the development of learning information and the condition of students. Problems with the personal competence of PAI teachers at SMP Negeri 1 Tanah Jambo Aye in fostering student behavior are included the lack of participation and awareness of teachers in coaching. The development of the teacher's personal competence also experienced problems due to the limited competence of the coaches at SMP N 1 Tanah Jambo Aye. The implications of the personal competence of PAI educators on the students behavior development at SMP N 1 Tanah Jambo Aye are; giving advice to students, practicing discipline in carrying out obligations as teachers, providing guidance on religious values to students with problems, being honest in giving assessments and having a sense of belonging and mutual concern for the school environment.
