Abstract

The Chronicle of Lasem is one of the doors to get to know the condition of Lasem in the Majapahit era. The Chronicle of Lasem / Lasem's Historical Story contains historical content as a complement to the decline of Majapahit and the early period of the entry of Islam in Java, especially Lasem. As a former port city that always interacted with immigrants, Lasem showed a face of tolerance by accepting the arrival of immigrants under the command of Bi Nang Un and Na Li Ni who were then well received and given an area north of the city to live and form their own community. This study aims to reveal the values of moderation in the context of Islam which was successfully recorded by Babad Lasem, although in reality the real conditions of society in that era had not yet embraced Islam. However, the spirit of maintaining harmony, harmony and togetherness in one area seems to be an inspiration in the life of the state and nation today which is starting to be undermined by the efforts of intolerance. In this study using the historical method while this type of research is a qualitative research with a historical approach, while the theory used in this research is the theory of moderation and the theory of local and foreign cultural relations. In this paper presents the Babad Lasem which can be seen from the origin, historical content, and a glimpse of the contents of the Babad Lasem which is narrated in several important ways. , innovation, balance and tolerance, love for the homeland, and cultural values. Besides that, there are also local arts narrated in the Babad Lasem which are still identified to this day, including Batik Lasem, Wayang Krucil, a Chinese settlement complex in Lasem. Besides the results of the research above, the researcher reconstructs how the value of moderation in the past context can be implemented in several clusters including in the fields of art, government, economics, social, and character education.
