Abstract

The focus of the study in this research was motivated by the Covid-19 which led to the emergence of new habits and limited interaction with other people. Interaction is the most influential activity for children's language development so that if children are always involved in activities that can improve their language skills, the vocabulary possessed by children will increase and children can express themselves with the surrounding environment. Therefore, it is important to provide the right stimulus from an early age, so that children's language skills can grow and develop according to the stages of language development. In this study, the type of research used is descriptive evaluative research, with a qualitative approach. The subjects of this study were children aged 5-6 years in TK ABA Karang Kalasan consisting of 15 children, and as a triangulation, this study utilized information from the Principal of TK ABA Karang Kalasan Yogyakarta, class B teachers, and accompanying teachers (grade A teachers). This study uses semistructured interviews (in-dept interview), observation, and documentation. Data analysis used the Milles and Huberman interaction model (data reduction, data presentation, conclusion drawing). The data validity technique uses source and technique triangulation. The results showed: 1) Students were able to do all the tasks that the teacher gave well. 2) Students can answer questions that the teacher gives related to learning materials. 3) Students dare to express what they feel and want. 4) Students dare to express their opinions to others. 5) Students can understand well the learning material and increase the vocabulary that children master. 6) Students can write their names without the help of others. 8) Students can read simple words and sentences without the help of teachers or parents. Based on the results of the assessment of children's language development, it was found that all children aged 5-6 years in Kindergarten ABA Karang Kalasan obtained very satisfactory results, 10 children succeeded in obtaining language development achievement scores by obtaining BSB results (Excellent Development) and 5 children who obtaining the achievement value of language development by obtaining BSH results (Developing According to Expectations), which means that the assignment method and question and answer method are effective to be used as a stimulus for children's language development during the pandemic.
