Abstract

This study aims to determine the dynamics and self-control factors of post- rehabilitation drug addicts. This type of research is qualitative research with a case study. Collecting data using the method of observation and interviews conducted on three former drug addicts. The results of this study reveal that there is a change in self-control in former post-rehabilitation drug addicts which is marked by changes in attitudes and behavior of informants before and after undergoing rehabilitation. These findings indicate that the self-control dynamics of the three informants are quite diverse. For the first informant, after undergoing the process, the informant began to calm down, was able to interact with the environment and felt regret. In the second informant, it was found that the informant was able to control himself, increase his faith and decided to remarry. In the third informant, it was found that the informant had good relations with the family, was able to forgive and was wiser in making decisions. The dominant factors affecting self-control found in this study are external factors (family and culture). This was indicated by the two informants who chose to change their place of residence in order to get a better environment in order to protect themselves from the influence of the old environment. In addition, the law in effect in Indonesia made informants afraid to repeat drug use again and change their behavior for the better.
