Abstract

This research aims to find out the application of the concept of Public Space Habermas in the development of magelang district public library. The type of research used is qualitative descriptive. The subject is librarians and librarians, while the object is the development of libraries as public spaces according to Habermas. The data collection technique is using interview, observation and documentation techniques. Data validation used consists of techniques of increasing persistence, triangulation, checking, and reference materials, while technical analysis uses data reduction, data presentation, and data conclusion and verification. This study aims to find out that various efforts of library development programs and activities in magelang distric public library have been carried out to meet the information needs sought by the library. Such developments include collection, human resources, user communities, and service system. Magelang Regency Public Library is a provider f information that can be seen in the context of Habermas public space discus theory.
