Abstract

The pesantren system is one concept that answers the problem of applying Islamic religious education learning which tends to be monotonous, less successful in instilling moral values to students, and less supported by the school environment. The curriculum is one of the most important elements in education, where in the curriculum all forms of learning activities can run smoothly. Al-Qur'an Science High School is one of the educational institutions that implements the pesantren system, namely using the pesantren system approach in learning Islamic religious education. The pesantren system used in the application of Islamic religious education learning at SMA Sains Al-Qur'an Yogyakarta aims to organize learning that is not monotonous, increases the inculcation of moral values to students, and creates an environment that supports learning. This study aims to find out how the pesantren system is used in the application of Islamic religious education learning at SMA Al-Quran Science Yogyakarta. This type of research is qualitative by using a phenomenological approach with a sociological context. The research examines the behavior patterns of students, teachers and the school's social environment. In the school environment, interactions occur inside and outside the classroom. Teachers interact with students, students interact with students, students with all managers at school. The research was conducted based on the principles of sociological phenomenology to be used as a basis for thinking and acting. Principals, Deputy Principals of Curriculum, PAI Teachers, and Students are the subjects of research. Interview, observation and documentation methods were used as a collection technique. Then data analysis using data collection, data presentation, data reduction, triangulation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study show: (1) the model for implementing PAI learning with the pesantren system at SMA Sains Al-Quran Yogyakarta, among others: educational objectives, teaching curriculum, and educational process. (2) the process of implementing PAI learning with the pesantren system at SMA Al-Qur'an Science Yogyakarta, including: sorogan, bandongan, and deliberation. (3) the problems of applying PAI learning with the pesantren system at SMA Al-Qur'an Science Yogyakarta, including: institutions, teachers, students, and materials.
