Abstract

The background of this research is that SD Negeri Adisucipto 1 Depok Sleman, which consists of different cultural backgrounds, origins, languages, social and religious conditions, even differences in the ability of students that should be a gift are often used as a trigger for conflict and discrimination between students. While this contradicts the vision of SD Negeri Adisucipto 1 Depok Sleman 1, namely the realization of a school of faith, quality and nation culture. So that, social studies (IPS) teachers must have their own creativity in building tolerance values in SD Negeri Adisucipto 1 Depok Sleman, with the aim of producing students who have character in accordance with the vision and mission and goals of the school. The purpose of this study is to determine the creativity of social studies teachers in building tolerance values in SD Negeri Adisucipto 1 and the factors that influence the creativity of social studies teachers in building tolerance values. Data collection techniques, the researcher uses observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis uses triangulation that starts from data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions. The results show that: First, the creativity of social studies teachers in building tolerance values in SD Negeri Adisucipto 1 Depok Sleman seen from: a) Vision and mission of the school have the strong tolerance values. b) Routine activities are one way to instill attitudes by getting used to them in everyday life. c) Teacher modeling is a model for students. The things that the teacher does will be imitated by the students. d) Spontaneous activities which carry out by principals and teachers in an effort to instill tolerance in SD Negeri Adisucipto 1 are to give warnings to students who are intolerant. e) Its conditioning is an effort to make students friendly and polite to all school members. f) The teacher acts as a mediator between students to understand differences of opinion and views toward students in order to achieve a common thought. g) The teacher helps students see differences early on by understanding the differences students have. h) Integrating in the subject of the value of tolerance into the subject is one effective step to instill tolerance to students. Second, the factors which influence the x creativity of social studies teachers in building tolerance values, namely a) External factors, namely educational background, training, teacher experience, and welfare. b) Internal factors, namely intelligence, cognitive style, and personality.
