Abstract

IKM Genteng Sokka MD is one of the manufacturing companies engaged in the manufacture of roof tiles in Godean, Yogyakarta. The products produced are various types of roof tiles such as mantili, magas, plentong, and kodok. Even so, the production process carried out by IKM Genteng Sokka MD is still not efficient because it can still be found various wastes, many products in process, excessive inventory, and congestion. Efforts that can be made to make waste can be done by doing lean manufacturing and FMEA. The method used is the VSM method which is used to describe the production processes that occur during production and determine the processes that generate waste. Then, a cause-and-effect diagram is used to determine the causes of wastage. In addition, the Pareto diagram is used to determine the priority of the highest waste of the RPN value. Then use the FMEA method to find critical waste that occurs in the company. Based on the results of data processing, there are four types of critical waste based on the priority of the RPN value after being processed using a Pareto diagram, namely motion, overprocessing, waiting and transportation. Improvements that can be applied are the application of 5S, provision of trolleys to facilitate the application of raw materials from storage and wet roof tiles from the production area to storage in large quantities, and checking machines regularly before being used to carry out the production process. The proposed improvement is expected to help the company to minimize the waste that occurs.
