Abstract

The labor problems experienced by migrant workers from year to year continue to grow in number, both in the pre-departure stage, while working and returning. Efforts that have been made by the Government so far are considered ineffective, and instead the case of migrant workers tends to increase. The study was conducted at SBMI Indramayu, which is one of the migrant workers' organizations that has concerns about the problem of migrant workers. This research is intended as an effort to overcome the problem of migrant workers. In this study, the authors used a qualitative approach with interview methods, observations and documentation. The results of this study showed that SBMI Indramayu in dealing with the problem of migrant workers, using two types of social advocacy, namely case advocacy aimed at migrant workers, and class advocacy aimed at policy makers. The efforts made by SBMI Indramayu have obstacles in terms of policy formation by the Government which is considered still not touching the root of the migrant worker problem, the absence of family in providing information about client data and cases that occur to clients, and the termination of cooperation in the middle of the road between the client's family and SBMI Indramayu. Government efforts are needed in revamping the regulatory stage on migrant workers, as well as synergistic cooperation between SBMI, the Government, migrant workers and family members in conducting social advocacy.
