Abstract

In nonparametric statistics, there are many methods used to analyze the data, one of them is the Jonckheere-Terpstra test. The Jonckheere-Terpstra (JT) test purposed to test alternative hypotheses about the order of data. The Jonckheere-Terpstra test is similar to the Kruskal-Wallis test in the null hypothesis. However, the JT test has a specific Alternative Hypothesis that the data on the k independent sample has a median value that is either increase or decrease. The basic assumption of the Jonckheere-Terpstra test is that the data does not have to be normally distributed, the data for analysis consists of k random samples, the observed values are not related either within or between samples (independent) and the measurement scale is at least ordinal. The JT test formula is determined according to the data to analyze whether the sample is small, the sample is large or there are the same numbers. In this thesis, will be explained the procedures and steps for the Jonckheere-Terpstra test and applied to a problem study is the effect of age on the number of confirmed cases of Covid-19 every month from July 2020 until September 2021 in Indonesia. The data are sum of positive Covid-19 patients, sum of patients recovered from Covid-19 and sum of patients who died from Covid-19. The data analyze in this thesis is counted by manual calculation and using software R 4.1.1 version and SPSS 15.0 version. The results of the there data analyzes are rejected or the Alternative Hypothesis is accepted. It mean that the sum of cases of positive Covid-19 patients tends to increase by grouping according to age, the number of cases of patients recovering from Covid-19 tends to increase by grouping according to age and The number of cases of patients dying from Covid-19 tends to increase by grouping according to age.
