Abstract

The purpose of this study is to (1) find out the level of journal citations (calculating the use of literature) in undergraduate thesis writing in 2019 students of the Library Science Study Program (2) Knowing the availability of the library journal collection of UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta which was cited in the writing of scription in 2019 by students of the Library Science Study Program of UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta. This study is a quantitative descriptive study with a population as many as 65 undergraduate thesis titles. Data collection is done by interview observation and documentation, data analysis using citation analysis. Citation analysis is interesting to research because the existence of bibliography must be in every undergraduate thesis and it is easy to get the bibliography. The results of the study showed that (1) There were 51 undergraduate thesis titles (78.46%) that used journals in undergraduate thesis authorship and from the results of percentage calculations showed the use of journals that entered the high category level. The high category can be known if the result is between 61-80%, while the 14 undergraduate thesis titles that do not utilize the journal in the writing of the undergraduate thesis are calculated with the same formula percentage of 21.53%, if the percentage amount is 21%-40% belongs to the low category. so it can be said that the title of the undergraduate thesis that does not use the journal for scription writing falls into the low category. The results of the total number of undergraduate thesis using the journal contained 155 journal article titles and 111 journal titles. (2) There are journal titles available from the top ten journals most cited in undergraduate thesis writing, there are seven journal titles available at the UIN Sunan Kalijaga Library with a percentage of 70%, journal titles include MIS Quarterly, Iqra' Journal, Periodic Library and Information Science, Khizanah Al-Hikmah, Pustakaloka, Journal Library and Archives Information Science and Fihris, while those that are not available in the library are three journal titles with a percentage of 30% including the Journal of Library Science (UNDIP), Library Management, and the Journal of Assessment and Intervention of Children with Special Needs. So it is recommended to add a collection of journal titles, so that their availability increases and to meet the needs of journals in writing undergraduate thesis.
