Abstract

Indonesia as a country located at the center of the confluence of the Mediterranean mountain circum in the west and the Pacific mountain circum in the middle, causes many volcanoes in Indonesia. The number of volcanoes has a positive impact, which can support most of the people who live around it. But the threat posed by the Volcano is also very high. Communication is needed in all aspects of life, including in the context of a disaster. Disaster communication is needed for the disaster management process, especially to coordinate everything needed to minimize disaster risk. This research is a qualitative descriptive study using the method of observation, in-depth interviews and documentation. By using the disaster communication theory by GD Haddow and KS Haddow and Disaster Mitigation according to the meaning of Law no. 24 of 2007. From this research, the results show that the Jalin Merapi community uses several effective disaster communication platforms and carries out existing forms of disaster mitigation
