Abstract

The researcher’s academic unrest is knowing that Islamic education is left behind due to the weak basic structure of science. A lengthy debate on Islamic education paradigm indicates a confusion of the basic structure of science as the foundation of Islamic education. Philosophically, surah al-‘Alaq 1-5 of the Quran constitutes the basic structure of science as the foundation of Islamic education development. The theoretic claim of this study is that the surah which is elaborated using the theory of prophetic social science results a basic structure of science as the foundation of institutions’ Islamic education development. Besides, the theory of basic structure of science can be used as the theoretical frame to analyze Islamic education problems in general. The study aims at three essential issues. First, to explain the relations between surah al-‘Alaq 1-5 of the Quran and the basic structure of science. Second, to elucidate the form of the basic structure in the surah with several concepts: epistemology, world view, ideology, and paradigm. Third, to elaborate the implementation of the basic structure of the surah in Islamic education system. The study utilizes constructivist paradigm and hermeneutics approach. The secondary data sources were the Quran and its interpretations of classical, modern, and contemporary. The obtained data were analyzed using transcendental structuralism analysis with several stages: descriptive, structural, objectifying, and integrating. The results show that the notion of factors making surah al-‘Alaq 1-5 of the Quran a basic structure of science in Islamic education are theological, normative, sociological, textual, and contextual. According to surah al-‘Alaq 1-5 the basic structure of science is actually a connection of some awareness of spiritual, rational, ethic, scientific, and social transformation. The structure is elaborated within some concepts, i.e. epistemology, teo antropo eco equiblirium, world view; physic and metaphysic, ideology based of ethic and the paradigm of integrated of tawhid. The implementation of the structure with regard to Islamic education realm is carried out by integrating theoretic frame with Islamic education system in which the Islamic education objective, curriculum, method, students and teachers’ profile and development strategy are covered. Hence, this study proposes surah al-‘Alaq 1-5 of the Quran, theoretically and practically, a theoretic inspiration of basic structure of science. The basic structure of science functions as the foundation of Islamic education science development. The study is also expected to inspire researchers to carry out al-Quran theorization and make it the epicenter of Islamic education theorization resurgence.
