Abstract

Mental disorders experienced by victims of domestic violence will certainly affect the ability of victims to socialize with the environment around them. When viewed from the social context of domestic violence victims when returning to society, of course, it requires mental readiness in carrying out daily activities and the victim's readiness to accept himself. In order to be able to adapt to the environment as social beings, victims of domestic violence certainly need other people and must have good communication, one of which is interpersonal communication. In an effort to overcome social problems that are rife among women, the Special Region of Yogyakarta has a rehabilitation institution under the auspices of the Social Service that handles domestic violence cases, namely the Women's Social Protection and Rehabilitation Center (BPRSW). Based on this background, the authors try to describe and analyze the mental guidance methods provided by social workers, psychologists and instructors in improving interpersonal communication of women victims of domestic violence at BPRSW Yogyakarta. This research is a type of qualitative research using qualitative descriptive analysis. The method used in data collection was obtained from the results of observations, interviews and documentation. The subjects of this study were social workers, psychologists and inmates, namely women victims of domestic violence. Data analysis is done by compiling and processing data obtained from the field, then analyzed so that conclusions can be drawn. How to find out the validity of the author's data using triangulation techniques. The results of the study after the conclusion was drawn showed that the interpersonal communication of women victims of domestic violence could improve after receiving mental guidance, seen by the development of the client in interacting with the surrounding environment and the client began to be able to open up to the problems being faced. The method used in carrying out the guidance is by using the method of observation, interviews, tests (questionnaires), group guidance, non- directive and directives.
