Abstract

World peace has an important position in economic growth each country. Social and political stability in a country directly plays a role in the structure of sustainable economic growth. However, in the eyes of economic observers, one of the global phenomena that exacerbates economic growth is acts of terrorism, conflict and acts of violence that take place in a country. This study aims to analyze the relationship between terrorism (terrorism incidents), inflation, international trade (real trade per capita), and government spending in the military sector on economic growth (real GDP per capita) in Islamic Cooperation Organization (OIC) countries. Methodologically, this study use a quantitative approach to the type of explanatory research. The population in this study were all member countries of the Islamic Cooperation Organization (OIC) with a purposive sampling technique. Data were analyzed using panel data regression using the fixed effect model test. The results of this study indicate that acts of terrorism and government spending have a positive effect on economic growth while international trade has a negative effect on economic growth. Meanwhile, inflation does not affect economic growth. The impact of acts of terrorism not only destroys physical capital and human resources, but also weakens social and political institutions. Financial allocation to cover the negative image of the country's finances is exacerbated by the declining level of domestic and global investor confidence. This research confirms that countries affected by terrorism will allocate large amounts of financial and human resources to tackle terrorism and spend less on economic and social infrastructure.
