Abstract

Ning at the boarding school today has the freedom to pursue higher education and a career outside the boarding school, unlike in previous times, which was completely limited. The number of roles can be carried out properly if it has the strength of character. The method used in this research is a qualitative method with a case study approach. The subjects in this study were two adults who were ning at Pondok Pesantren X in Yogyakarta. The results showed that there was a picture of the strength of character in both research informants. The first informant has a picture of the strength of character in the virtue of wisdom and knowledge, courage, humanity, justice, simplicity and transcendence, as well as the second informant. However, there are several different strengths of character, namely the strength of curiosity and leadership character possessed by the first informant, as well as the strength of the perspectives, self-regulation and expectations contained in the second informant. Researchers found findings in the two informants namely resilience found in aspects of emotional regulation, self-efficacy and reaching out. Factors that influence the strength of the two informants' characters include personal factors, family factors, environmental factors as well as the positive role modeling factors of the environment.
