Abstract

Scholarships are aids or awards given to students with low economics in the form of tuition fees. Various agencies are competing to help educate the nation through organizing scholarships, such as the Solopeduli Foundation. However, in its implementation, often, the wrong target or target occurs. To deal with these problems, using data mining is necessarily essential. This study classifies the ID3, and C4.5 algorithms, both of them are decision tree building algorithms and compare the accuracy and efectiveness. The amount of data used is 512 data for the 2017/2018 school year and 250 dummy data, which is divided into training and test data. The attributes used to consist of the region, administration (ADM), read-write The Quran (BTA), religion, smoking, vehicles, and levels. Based on testing using a confusion matrix, the C4.5 algorithm is better than ID3 because it has a high degree of accuracy. In the four data shares, the highest accuracy of each algorithm lies in the 70% test data. ID3 algorithm produces an accuracy of 99.06% and for the C4.5 algorithm of 99.81%. Based on testing the execution time, the ID3 algorithm is more effective than C4.5 because it has the shortest time on the 90% test data. ID3 has a time of 0.246897 and C4.5 has a time of 0.346025.
