Abstract

scene, especially in the area of Bangkalan District, Bangkalan Regency, East Java Province. They are often seen as a social problem for the people around them. Paguyuban DIY (Do It Yourself) as a self-help movement in mid-2016 tried to empower and assist the street buskers in order to escape the shackles of stigma, as well as to provide economic independence for them. This research seeks to explain the process of mentoring is carried out as well as cultural processes such as what makes the assistance can be successful. Two things that formulate the problem of this research are the mentoring process carried out by the Paguyuban DIY and the immediate impact felt by street buskers after the pending process. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative. Researchers observed and interviewed the activists of the Paguyuban DIY and street buskers as the primary source as well as the perpetrators of the assistance activities. From the results of the interview, transcription was then carried out and written in the narration which was then analyzed using theory. The theory used is the AGIL theory which was coined by Talcots Parsons. In conclusion, in a span of approximately one year, some of the buskers can be independent and can establish a business unit. They can now get income every month. Their creative space is also expanding as their artistic abilities increase. Besides that, along with changes in terms of religiosity, they have also not been negatively stigmatized by the surrounding community. Many religious activities are carried out such as recitation and commemoration of the Birthday of the Prophet which is held routinely at the place they live. In the end, referring to the AGIL theory used in this study, the assistance provided by the Paguyuban DIY for street buskers in Bangkalan can be called successful and the desired objectives are achieved.
