Abstract

This research is motivated by the phenomenon of sharing (sharing parenting), namely the behavior of parents sharing detailed information about children through social media. This study aims to determine the motives of millennial parents to share, how to share and how to share with parents. This study uses the theory of Maja Sonne Damkjaer (2018) about communicative orientation which characterizes the Parents' Approach to Sharenting and Anna Brosch's theory (2018) about the sharenting dimension. This study uses qualitative research methods by collecting data using observation, interviews, and documentation. Overall data collection was carried out online because this research was carried out during the Covid pandemic 19. Determination of research subjects using purpose sampling techniques is to determine research subjects in accordance with predetermined research criteria. The results of this study are: First, the motive of millennial parents to do sharenting is to receive affirmations and social support; to demonstrate the ability to care for children; for social participation; and for documentation. Second, the method of sharenting millennial parents is by peer-oriented communication (peer orientation). Then sharenting is done by covering the sharenting dimension that is the number and frequency of unplanned and inconsistent, sharenting content and the contents regarding play activities, learning activities, eating activities, introducing nature / activities of children in the nature, activities introducing animals to children, activities in the library, and about MP ASI. The interaction with the intertwined audience raises positive and negative responses. Relationships with a positive audience in conducting sharenting are providing new information and knowledge about parenting, making new friends, and getting support. But the negative is that parents feel insecure, making parents compare their children with other people's children, even causing animosity if there are differences of opinion. Third, sharenting effects for millennial parents include the cognitive, affective / attitude and moral religion of parents.
