Abstract

Research on the development of learning media for the character of responsibility pop up is motivated by the lack of knowledge and the application of the character of early childhood responsibilities in TK IT Muaz Bin Jabal 4 Yogyakarta, such as children not throwing trash in their place, children not tidying toys after playing, children do not pay attention the teacher speaking in front, and so on. Even though IT Muaz Bin Jabal 4 Yogyakarta Kindergarten School already has a learning curriculum using character centers, after researchers have observed and interviewed classroom teachers, there are obstacles in the learning process, especially in introducing the character of responsibility to early childhood, teachers only introduce characters by using the lecture method (syiar) and the story method, the teacher occasionally introduces the character of responsibility by playing roles. While the focus of children using these methods is short-lived, so that what is conveyed by the teacher is not inherent in the child and is not applied in everyday life. Based on the results of the interview, the lack of learning media that can be used in introducing characters to children. Therefore, the researcher offers to use the learning media for responsibility character pop-up as a teacher's tool for optimizing the character of early childhood responsibility. The type of research used is Research and Development (R&D). This development goes through 10 stages in accordance with Borg and Gall theory. The products that have been developed are tested by media experts, content / content experts, and educator experts (teachers). After the validation test the researchers conducted small-scale trials and large-scale trials in the Kindergarten A class at the Muaz Bin Jabal 4 Yogyakarta Kindergarten IT School. The results showed that the product developed was suitable for use. This is based on the results of the validation of media experts (96%), material / content experts (80%), and educator experts (88.8%). Then the results of small-scale pretest trials (33.55) and posttest (85%), and the results of large-scale trials pretest 34.5 and posttest 80.75%. So it can be concluded that the developed media is feasible and effective as a teacher's tool in introducing the character of early childhood responsibilities.
